Champion Athlete: Gary Osborn
Champion High School Team: Cedar Park Baseball
When Garrison was 12 years old, he was diagnosed with Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, which falls under the umbrella of Scleroderma, Lupus, Reynard’s, Arthritis, and Nephritis. He has fibrosis of the lungs, high positive ARA and RNP, and dermatomyositis. The disease manifests itself in stiffness and loss of mobility; the body attacks the muscles and turns them into scar tissue. Basic mobility- tying shoes, putting on clothes, and showering, is very difficult for him.
This summer Champions4Children helped connect Garrison with the Johns Hopkins hospital, where he spent two months receiving break through treatment. They have changed his treatment dramatically. After years of chemo, NG tube feedings, and countless Intensive Care stays, he now does physical therapy, occupational therapy, and weekly methotrexate treatments.
We are thrilled to report that Garrison walked into Cedar Park High School for the beginning of his senior year, where he will be an honorary member of the Timberwolf Baseball team.
