At nine years old, Christian was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis (UC). He has had his colon/large intestine removed. He remained out of school for the majority of 5th grade and lived with a central line for about six months. He underwent physical therapy to regain the strength in his right leg and get help walking normal again. Christian’s reconstructive surgery took place nearly a year later and the colonoscapy bag was removed. Unfortunately his reconstructed small intestine prolapsed and he returned for a third and corrective surgery, missing most of his 7th grade year.

Christian is treated by a GI specialist. Also a Hematologist and Rheumatologists are very involved in his treatments. Christian continues to lose blood excessively at times and he has been severely malnourished because of his condition. Today, he continues with infusion treatment, oral medications and blood and iron transfusions throughout the year.

Recently Christian was able to gain 14 pounds and this spring he will be an honorary member of the Lake Travis baseball team.
